Vietnam's waste plastic recycling industry has great development potential, and the demand for waste plastic materials in thisindustry increases by 15-20% annually. Despite its potential, Vietnam's waste plastics recycling industry has yet to meet the requirements.
Ruan Tingta, an expert from the natural resources media center of the Ministry of natural resources and environment of Vietnam, said that the average daily emission of waste plastics in Vietnam was 18000 tons, and the price of waste plastics was relatively low. Therefore, the price of recycled plastic particles is far lower than that of original plastic particles. It shows that the development potential of waste plastic recycling industry is huge. At the same time, waste plastic recycling business brings many benefits, such as saving energy for the production of primary plastics, saving non renewable resources - oil, solving a number of environmental problems.
According to the statistics of the Ministry of natural resources and environment, the annual discharge of domestic waste, industrial waste and medical waste in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh reaches 16000 tons. Among them, 50-60% of the garbage can be recycled and cause new energy, but only 10% of them can be recycled. At present, the landfill capacity of plastic waste in Ho Chi Minh City is 50000 tons. If these plastic waste is recycled, Ho Chi Minh City can save about 15 billion Dong per year.
According to Vietnam Plastics Association, if 30-50% recycled plastic raw materials can be used every year, enterprises can save more than 10% of production costs. According to the waste recycling fund of Ho Chi Minh City, plastic waste accounts for a large proportion, and the emission of plastic waste is second only to urban food waste and solid waste.
At present, the number of waste treatment companies in Vietnam is still too small, wasting "waste resources". Environmental experts believe that if we want to promote the development of recycling industry and reduce the emission of plastic waste, we need to do a good job in waste classification, which is an important link. In order to improve the effect of recycling activities of waste plastics in Vietnam, it is necessary to simultaneously implement legal and economic measures, improve people's awareness, and change consumption and waste plastics emission habits.
