Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) has announced that it will implement a consumer deposit system (DRS) on beverage packaging in 2022 as an important part of the extended producer responsibility system (EPR) for packaging waste, thereby accelerating the transition to Abandoned and circular economy transformation.

NEA will count the types and quantities of packaging manufacturers and packaging products put on the market, and develop plans to reduce waste packaging. Companies will begin to collect packaging data from July 1, 2020, and submit data and 3R plans to NEA in 2021.
