Gerber, a brand owned by Nestle, has teamed up with terracycle to bring new life to the hard to recycle baby food packaging.
As one of the new projects launched in the United States, consumers can use prepaid shipping labels to post Gerber packages that cannot be recycled in the city.
After the waste packaging is collected, it will be cleaned, melted and converted into hard plastic, and then reshaped into new products.
Tom szaky, CEO and founder of Teri environmental protection, said: "through this free recycling program, Gerber provides parents with an easy way to avoid waste disposal in the waste dump by disposing of some hard to recycle baby food packages in a responsible way."
"By collecting and recycling these packaging wastes, parents can show their respect for the environment not only by choosing environmentally friendly products for their children, but also by choosing environmentally friendly packaging methods."
Gerber was acquired by Nestl ¨¦ in 2007 and mainly produces various infant formula, infant food, grains, snacks and nutrition products. The goal is to achieve 100% recyclable or reusable packaging by 2025.
"We are happy to work with Teri environmental as part of our efforts to further promote sustainable packaging," said Bill partyka, Gerber's chief executive
"We know that what every parent cares most is to ensure that their children have a healthy and happy future. Our commitment to sustainable development is rooted in helping parents build a better future for their babies. "
